The Life of Mrs. Ossie Mae Jackson Wright (Eastman, GA)

“Oh it’s not a surprise, please do not weep for me, God needed a special gift back home and it was indeed me, I’m rejoicing with the angels and dancing down the streets of gold, I’m home, I am indeed home. No more sickness, no more pain. I’m celebrating with Jesus in my new home.”

Ossie was loved by many. To know her was no ordinary experience; it was extraordinary joy. Ossie was born in Eastman, Georgia to the late Augustus J. Jackson and Ossie Brown Jackson.  

Ossie’s relationship with the Lord grew and was cultivated at New Salem CME Church in Eastman; where she maintained her commitment to the Lord and was a devoted member until the Lord called her home. 

She attended Bozeman School in Hawkinsville and the Dodge County School System.

Ossie worked diligently through the years at The Carriage Inn, the Shirt Factory, Hardy Candy Company, Middle Georgia Nursing Home, Gilman Paper Company, Dodge County Hospital, and later retired from Ocmulgee Electric Corporation. 

Ossie was a loving person who enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to cook, care for others, and was a light in the eyes of those who knew and loved her. Her favorite singer was Barry White. She loved his smooth voice. Her favorite song was “Something About the name Jesus”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three devoted husbands (Earnest Wright, Herman Jackson, and John Lucas), one daughter, three sisters, and four brothers. 

Clossie, as she was affectionately known to her closest friends and family  leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Angela Tinsley Snead of Federal Way, Washington, Charles (Vanessa) Wright of Cadwell, Alicia (Tarvos) Simmons of Eastman, and LaKeesha (Taylor) Branch of Suffolk, Virginia; step-son, Tyrance (Cencereitte) Jackson of Macon, step-daughters, Danelle Jackson Denson of Dublin, Pamela Hiler (Kevin) of Nevada and Jatinique Lucas of Maryland; grandchildren, Nevelle Simmons Jr., DuncanTinlsey Jr., Raelyn Fluellen, TJ Simmons, Charles Wright II, Destanee Wright, Jazzell Lemon, Christian Wright, Jacob Guyton, KJ Wright, Olivia Branch, Aubree Branch, Tierra George, Zachary George, De’Andre George, David George, Courtney Hamilton, Deidra Hamilton, Tyrese Jackson, Harley Jackson, Nijah Canty, Shyhieim Canty, Tyrelle (Kaneesha) Jackson, Jamilah Jackson, Phillip Snead Jr., and DaVaughn (Amber) Lucas; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Joy Simmons, Dallas Simmons, Mealah Watkins, Cameron Wright, and Cade Wright; Sisters, Lottie Flowers of Palm Bay, Florida, Delois Inman of Rhine, Ruthie (Felton) Campbell of Fitzgerald, Johnnie Dell Walker, Mary Brown, and Daisy (Ernest) Durham of Eastman; brother in law, Earl Wright of Eastman, sisters in law, Yvonne Lucas Johnson (Odell) of Michigan, Leola McCrae, Brenda Wright, Beverly Wright, and Mildred Wright Cooper of Eastman; a special cousin, Lucille Graham of Eastman; special co-workers from Ocmulgee EMC of Eastman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
